How do i know if my Dog has demodex mange

How can you know if your dog has demodex mange? The visit to a vet is what you need if any demodex like symptoms were found on your dog. The vet can tell if your dog have demodex mange or other similar skin problems.

Demodex mange on dogs comes soon after birth from their mother. You probaly familiar with other demodex species: Demodex folliculorum, Demodex brevis and Demodex canis which live in humans causing human demodex. Even thoug these human demodex mites are very small only 0.3 mm - 0.4mm in length, they can travel with average speed of approximatly 8-16 sm / hour. It is fast enough to move from head to tos overnight, while we sleep. Almost same speed applies to dog demodex. It moves fast from mother to pups.

Demodex mange has a red color and can be called a red mange. It has long, thin cigar like body with 8 legs. Demodex mange live in hair follicles and within the follicle. You will need to use a microscope to see the mites. Do all pets have demodex mange? The answer is: yes, most healthy pets have demodex mange mites. Why some pets have the mites and never have demodicosis? Because of the immune system. When dogs immune system is suppresed, the mange start increasing population. Bad shampoo and extended use of antibiotics and steroids are most common reasons for dogs demodicosis.
